WHO WE ARE
About Us
Bar Lyec Safari Lodge is more than just a lodge; it’s an adventure, a legacy, and a dream brought to life. Founded in 2018 by Kevin Michael Hunt, this haven nestled in the heart of Uganda embodies a lifelong love for Africa.
Kevin, the son of Don Hunt—renowned for his work at the Mount Kenya Game Ranch—grew up surrounded by a deep respect for nature and wildlife. After spending many years working alongside his father in Kenya, Kevin decided to pursue his own dream: to create a unique place that blends hospitality, adventure, and conservation amidst Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes.
Sadly, Kevin passed away on October 18th 2024, but his spirit, passion, and vision live on through his family, who proudly carry on his legacy. Bar Lyec Safari Lodge remains committed to its mission: to provide an unforgettable experience for nature lovers while honoring and preserving Africa’s natural heritage.
Welcome to our home, where every guest becomes part of this beautiful story.

Murchison Falls
National Park Game Drive
Located in the northwest of Uganda, is one of the country’s largest and most popular national parks, covering an area of approximately 3,893 square kilometers. It is renowned for its rich biodiversity, striking landscapes, and, most notably, the powerful Murchison Falls. These falls, also known as the Kabalega Falls, are formed where the Victoria Nile River forces its way through a narrow gap in the rocks, plummeting 43 meters into a gorge below, creating a stunning display of raw natural power.

Murchison Falls
Cascade
The falls are situated within the park, providing visitors with breathtaking views and the chance to witness one of the world’s most dramatic waterfalls. A boat trip along the Nile, especially up to the base of the falls, is a popular activity for tourists, allowing them to get up close to the falls and see the rich wildlife along the riverbanks, including elephants, hippos, and various bird species. A hike to the top of the falls offers another stunning perspective, with panoramic views of the surrounding savannah and the Nile River.
